Consulting Planners of Massachusetts is offering planners a two-session workshop on how planners can change the professional playbook and view their role through a racial justice lens. Starting with an understanding of the role planners have played in creating inequity in land use, housing, wealth building, transportation and health outcomes, the workshop will help participants to first recognize, then reverse implicit biases. The workshop will then help participants to move from talking about equity to adopting new approaches, enabling them to take action to help make planners part of the solution, and no longer part of the problem.

The YWCA of Central Mass. will lead the workshop, which will include videos, personal discussions and tools for continuous learning. Each session will last 2 hours. Participants will receive a certificate documenting they have completed YWCA DEI training. CPM has applied for the workshop to carry AICP Continuing Maintenance (CM) credits in Equity (new required credit).
