Reducing the Impact of Lead Emissions at Airports (1.5 CM credits)

Tuesday, April 25, 2017  2:00-3:30 pm ET

ACRP Report 162: Guidebook for Assessing Airport Lead Impacts

TRB will conduct a webinar on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm ET that features research conducted by TRB’s Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) that will assist airport operators in understanding measures to reduce lead emissions from general aviation aircraft operating on leaded gas, also known as AVGAS. While leaded fuel has been banned in almost all other transportation applications, it is still used today by piston engine aircraft. For over two decades, there have been efforts to find a replacement for leaded AVGAS. Until a replacement fuel is available for all aircraft, there may be practices that airports can adopt to reduce baseline lead emissions and/or exposure. These practices also may help mitigate lead emission impacts.
