We still have a few spots available at our upcoming conference, which is focused on ways that sound (ie audio mapping) can better prepare us to understand, empathize, and engage with the complexities of our urban environments.

The conference is FREE, but registration is required. Please sign up here<https://www.eventbrite.com/e/listening-to-the-city-engagement-exploration-intervention-through-sound-tickets-34256680654> by May 20th, if you are interested. See below for additional details.

Listening to the City: Engagement, Exploration + Intervention through Sound
May 25th + 26th, 2017

The MIT Community Innovators Lab (a planning and development lab in MIT's Department of Urban Studies and Planning), LA Listens, and the Design Studio for Social Intervention are hosting a conference, Listening to the City: Engagement, Exploration + Intervention through Sound<https://listeningtothecity.wordpress.com/> on May 25 & 26th, 2017. This 2-day convening is intended for activists, artists, residents, researchers, students, teachers, and community planning practitioners with an interest in sound as a creative mode of inquiry, a tool for democratic engagement, and a means for social change.

The conference program<https://docs.google.com/document/d/13ZmNgq62lDwKdXshI9plXMz4KucqgqM1pK6hn0ITT4k/edit#> will offer a mix of hands-on workshops, performances, presentations, panel discussions, installations, field trips, listening parties, and more.

Supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, the conference will begin at MIT on Thursday morning, and will then invite participants to journey to several other locations throughout Greater Boston and Cambridge over the course of the two days.
