This session, entitled "Zoning and Transportation, Mutual Impacts" will be the sixth event presented as part of the "A Year of Transportation" program, a year-long series of presentations and workshops. This session will bring together experts from planning, transportation engineering and economic development to discuss the relationship of changes in transportation – both nationally and in Rockland specifically - to the real estate development industry. Topics to be covered: include 1. Trends in parking demands for residential and non-residential uses 2. Influence of transit availability in locating residential and non-residential uses 3. The role of transportation access, parking, etc. as marketing factors for residential and non-residential developments 4. New zoning approaches to account for new transportation realities 5. Integrating pedestrian access, bicycles and car-sharing into new and existing developments 6. Using Transportation Demand Management (TDM) to accommodate trips to and from new and existing uses 7. How major changes in Rockland’s transportation system (TZ Bridge, BRT, etc.) will influence future growth patterns.
