Responding to Irma: Planning Strategies to Promote Resiliency in Florida's Communities

Hurricane Irma provided a major wake-up call for the need for Florida communities to better incorporate resiliency measures into their local planning process to address impacts from major storm events and sea level rise. This webinar will provide information on cutting edge strategies being used effectively around the state of Florida to promote greater community resiliency. Erin Deady of Erin Deady, P.A. will cover comprehensive planning, legal, policy and other measures being incorporated into local planning processes around the state. Charles Pattison will focus on Monroe County's new purchase of development rights program as it relates to the county's Rate of Growth Ordinance (ROGO) to protect critical areas from over-development. Christopher Moore will discuss Pinellas County's recently launched initiatives to prepare for sea level rise, including its vulnerability assessment and adaptation strategies.
