Planners' Movie and Meet-up: Welcome the Embrace

The Planners' Movie and Meet-up series continues with a screening of Welcoming the Embrace by John Adekoje, Miranda Adekole and Darrus Sands and presented by Embrace Boston.

This documentary looks at the creation of The Embrace, artist Hank Willis Thomas’s new memorial to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King at Boston Common. Hear from the community about the meaning of the public art installation and its importance for Boston.

The program will feature a post film in-person discussion with Embrace Boston Director of Digital Strategy and Production, Gregory Ball. Daphne Politis, FAICP, will facilitate the discussion.

Ball brings more than two decades of experience as a cultural curator, journalist and content creator. Ball’s work has appeared in the Boston Globe, Boston Magazine, Dig Boston, XXL and the Bay State Banner along with various international editions of the Metro Newspaper. Ball is the co-founder and editor at KBX Media, a Boston-based digital editorial platform and media content creation. Previously, Ball worked at Berkshire Bank as the first Reevx Labs Director, opening the bank’s community co-working spaces for entrepreneurs and later served as Marketing Content Manager. Ball, a 5-time nominee for Music Journalist Of The Year at the Boston Music Awards, currently serves on the Board Of Directors for Boston Art & Music Soul (BAMS) Fest, a nonprofit organization that breaks down racial and social barriers to arts, music, and culture across Greater Boston.
