This senior planner writes reports, reviews plans and legal documents and makes recommendations. Coordinates with the Department of Public Works, Mass DOT, MBTA and others. Coordinates transportation policy and planning efforts for the Town with private and non-profit developers as well as other Town and State offices. Supports other long and short range planning efforts. Required Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or Transportation Planning related field and 3 years of transportation planning experience, Masters Degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer skills and a valid Massachusetts driver's license with good driving record. The Town of Grafton is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Town Planner. Under the direction of the Town Planner, this position is responsible for providing technical support to the Planning Board/Department and performs a variety of duties related to current and long-range planning and development within the Town. Assists with: review of land use/development applications; updating of various Town development regulations and plans; conducting studies and analyses regarding various planning and development issues; and, providing technical assistance to planning and development-related Town boards and committees. Familiarity with Massachusetts Affordable Housing, Subdivision Control Law, and Zoning Act (MGL c.40A) desirable. Strong oral and written communication skills, and experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases is required. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor?s Degree in Planning, Geography, Public Administration or related field, and three years of planning-related experience, preferably in municipal government. Job Description:
We are seeking a creative, collaborative, highly-motivated, and self-directed planner/project manager with 4-6 years of experience to join our team and to contribute to the firm’s growing number of projects. Responsibilities will include managing projects with multiple subconsultants on the team, leading proposal writing for new work, contributing to the firm blog, social media outlets, website, and contributing to all office work when needed.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have an advanced degree in urban design, architecture, or urban planning with four to six years of experience in planning and/or urban design. A minimum of two years of managing projects with multiple team members is required. The ideal candidate will also have, at a minimum, basic knowledge of GIS and graphic software such as InDesign and Illustrator.
